
What do I need to get a library card?
To get a library card, you will need a photo i.d. and a piece of mail with your name and current mailing address on it. This could be junk mail, a bill, personal check, or various other types of mail. The mail must be dated within the last 30 days. Patrons under age 14 must have an adult with them to obtain a library card.
Is there a charge to get a library card?
There is no charge for a library card is you live, work, or attend school in Montgomery County. There is a fee of $10 annually if you live out of county.
What if I lose my library card?
If you lose your library card, you can get a new one. The first replacement card is $1.00. The fee increases each time you need a new one.
How many items can I check out on my card?
The first time you use your card, you may check out 3 items. After the initial use, you may check out 20 items on your library card.
What is the late fee for books?
The overdue fine for everything other than DVDs (books, book kits, books on tape, cds, vhs) is $.02 per day.
Can I check out DVDs on my library card?
If you have filled out a movie agreement card and are 18 years of age or older, you can check out DVDs on your card. There is no charge for checking out the DVDs but there is a $2.00 per movie, per day fine if they are late. We do ask that DVDs aren't placed in the book drop box. If DVDs are returned in the book drop, there will be a charge of $2.00 per DVD plus any late fees that may incur. To check out DVDs, you must have your card with you. You may not use anyone else's' card other than your own.
How many DVDs can I check out?
You may check out 4 DVDs total on each adult's library card. Our DVDs are color coded by blue dots and red dots. You can check out 2 red dot and 2 blue dots. The red dots are mainly R, NR, PG-13 and the blue dots are mainly G rated, family, children, and educational movies.
How many VHS can I check out?
Adult and children can check out 2 VHS per card. The VHS movies are all color coded with yellow dots.
